What does turmeric do to the skin?

Turmeric is a herb that can benefit your skin as a home remedy for acne, eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, dark spots, and wrinkles. Turmeric is loaded with antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties that are beneficial to the skin in various ways.

It helps brighten dark spots

The curcumin in turmeric reduces the excess melanin production in the skin, which results in a lightened skin tone. Adding turmeric to your skincare routine can brighten your skin tone and get rid of those dark spots that are difficult to get rid of.

It moisturizes dry skin

Turmeric contains vitamin E which nourishes and moisturizes the skin and also strengthens the skin barrier. Vitamin E also boosts cell turnover and regeneration by bringing new cells to the surface faster. This speeds up healing as well. Applying turmeric daily can hydrate and revitalize skin while alleviating symptoms of dryness.

It makes the skin glow

After a certain age, our bodies stop producing collagen but the curcumin found in turmeric can stimulate collagen production, making your skin appear more youthful. Turmeric’s natural exfoliating properties also gently remove dead skin cells, unveiling a fresh and radiant glow.

It helps heal wounds

The anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric decrease the skin’s inflammation and speed up the skin’s ability to form new tissue. This leads to faster healing wounds and healthier skin.

What does honey do to the skin?

Studies have shown that honey contains various components that promote skin health.

  • Its anti-inflammatory properties make it useful for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
  • Its antimicrobial properties make it ideal for fighting skin infections.
  • Honey is also a natural humectant, meaning that it absorbs moisture from the air. When applied to the skin, it moisturizes it and prevents dryness.
  • Honey contains amino acids, vitamins like B6, C, and D, and minerals that are beneficial for improving the overall health of the skin.
  • Honey is a natural exfoliator due to its antibacterial properties. This makes it an effective pore cleanser for removing dead skin cells and debris that may clog the pores and contribute to skin issues.
  • Due to honey’s ability to promote the healing of damaged tissues, it can relieve sunburns, reduce inflammation on the skin, and aid in treating wounds.
